This independent and unaffiliated Group was formed about 45 years ago to offer an opportunity for all ladies of all ages in and around Everton to come together and socialise. By charging a nominal amount (£3) for attending each meeting, which covers hall rental, speakers’ costs and refreshments, it is self-supporting and is not subsidised.
We offer a wide range of speakers and home-made entertainment as well as the occasional outing from time to time. Proceeds of a small raffle held at each meeting enable us to support a local charity at the end of the year. Our two-monthly ‘Ladies Who Lunch’ events at local restaurants are always popular and well attended.
Originally, meetings were held in members’ homes, but as numbers increased a permanent venue was sought and for many years now St Mary’s Church Hall has been the Group’s meeting place. LEGS is very well supported and attendance averages between 30 and 50 at each meeting. A poster is displayed outside the Post Office to advertise our monthly meetings.
